GUADALAJARA, GUADALAJARA!! MEET ‘FLOR DE TOLOACHE’, THE POWERHOUSE WOMEN WHO DECIDED TO TAKE ON THE MISOGYNISTIC MACHO WORLD OF MARIACHI!!

These talented women decided they’d had enough of the machismo and misogyny that comes from working with MEN – Eight years ago Mireya Ramos and Shae Fiol founded Mariachi Flor de Toloache, New York City’s first all-female mariachi band.

Together with their bandmates, Julie Acosta and Eunice Aparicio, these amazingly talented musicians traded in traditional mariachi skirts for swaggy homemade suits and created an empowering space for women, while staying true to the music and spirit of mariachi.
